SAS to receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award” of the International Skiing History Association (ISHA) for its Schneehase

ISHA was formed in 1992 by Mason Beekly, a US collector of ski books and art. Amongst others, Walter Amstutz and Peter Lunn served as co-founders. The association publishes a bimonthly magazine “Skiing History” and maintains also under the world’s largest website devoted exclusively to the history of skiing. In addition, ISHA communicates on Facebook. ISHA has more than 1600 members from 16 different countries. Jean-Claude Killy is one of the famous supporters of ISHA. Rightfully he poses the question “How can we know and truly enjoy our sport if we do not know who and what came before?”.

ISHA meets every year in spring for a conference in a US ski resort, this year in Sun Valley from 25 - 28 March and Ivan Wagner shall be present there to receive on behalf of the SAS this prestigious award. This will be a proud moment for the SAS in general and more particular for all the past and present editors of the Schneehase. It is gratifying to see that almost 100 years of endeavors by the SAS to participate in the writing of the history of ski are honored.
