After five years of development work, we have found a successful SAS alpine team. Especially after we decided two years ago to decentralize the training structure of the SAS Alpin team, individual efficiency has been considerably improved. It has also been shown that a coach for all SAS athletes is not the best solution, and that individual programs are more appropriate. In addition, the SAS Alpin team has once again been expanded. Last year, we achieved great successes, especially among the top athletes, which was also reflected in the selection in the Swiss Ski team. With five alpine athletes Tanguy Nef (SAS Geneva), Marc Rochat (SAS Lausanne), Daniele Sette (SAS Berne), Arnaud Boisset (SAS Lausanne) and Noah Käch (Skicross, SAS Berne) on the Swiss Ski team, SAS has more top athletes than ever, it's great!
Our goal for the 2019/20 season is still to inspire as many students as possible for alpine ski racing, to create momentum and if possible to bring more top SAS athletes to the Swiss Ski team. This requires groundwork, meaning involvement from universities across sections, spreading of information about the SAS in the three national centres of excellence (Brig, Davos and Engelberg) and positive word of mouth propaganda from active SAS athletes. Another main objective remains the creation of the Swiss Uni Team for the Winter Universiades in Lucerne. The number of students in high performance sport is increasing every year. With the support of the Swiss Uni Team, the SAS has the unique opportunity to provide long-term support for sport students at professional level.
